A New Hope Farm is a first-generation family farm located in Winsted, CT.
John Fortier started A New Hope Farm at the tail end of 2014, along with a few friends from college. During their time in the horticultural program at Naugatuck Valley Community College, they were inspired by permaculture, market gardening, the native plant, and the local food movement. In 2015, they started growing vegetables and native plants for home gardens in a small greenhouse. In 2020, after the departure of the other founding members, John decided to increase his focus on the farm and family, and along with his wife Michalina, began growing vegetables and herbs for The Farm Club and local restaurants. Now in their sixth growing season, the farmers look forward to increasing the availability of local, responsibly grown produce in their community and building healthy ecosystems for generations to come.
